cracked slip chawan

a chawan made from dark iron-rich
stoneware clay and covered with several
layers of slip. repeated firings cause the
slip to crack and reveal the dark clay
underneath. this piece is unglazed on the
outside and has a glaze made from only
snail shells on the inside
